Freddy Adu is close to transferring from the Philadelphia Union to Brazilian first division team, Bahia, according to a report. Adu is set to travel to Brazil next week to finalize the deal with Bahia.

Adu signed with the Philadelphia Union in the summer of 2011 and the transfer to Brazil would clear up salary space in the coming years.

According to the report, the Adu was set to earn $600,000 in 2013 and $700,000 in 2014 for the Philadelphia Union. Adu was mainly a fixture on the Union's bench after falling out of favor with head coach John Hackworth.
