Butler University will withdraw from the Atlantic 10 conference next week and join the Big East, according to Indianapolis Star reporter David Woods.

According to the report, Butler will pay a $2 million exit fee to leave the Atlantic 10. An announcement is expected next week.

Butler will join the so-called 'Catholic-7' group of schools, which negotiated to retain the Big East name. Xavier is reportedly expected to join Butler in the new league, which is expected to play games next season under the same Big East moniker.
