AHL center Joey Hishon cleared to play after two years

21-year-old Joey Hishon has been cleared to play after nearly two years. Hishon has not played since May 21, 2011, after sustaining a concussion from an illegal elbow to the head during the 2011 Memorial Cup. Hishon missed the rest of the 2011-2012 season and most of this season with post-concussion syndrome.

The hit ended his major junior career, and Hishon has never played professionally. Drafted 17th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, he is currently under contract with the Colorado Avalanche, playing for the Lake Erie Monsters.

Finally cleared, he is allowed to play starting as soon as Tuesday's game against the Toronto Marlies.
