Landon Donovan joins Galaxy during White House visit

The L.A. Galaxy took a trip to the White House and was joined by star attacker and former captain, Landon Donovan. Donovan had been on an extended leave of absence since the team won the MLS Cup in December. President Barack Obama welcomed both the Galaxy and the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings to the White House Tuesday afternoon to congratulate the two teams.

Last week, there was speculation about whether or not Donovan would make an appearance, and Galaxy midfielder Mike Magee said he thought Donovan would be there. From MLS Soccer:

"I bet he will be [there]," Magee said after he was informed of Donovan's planned appearance. "It's convenient, right? Convenient timing. ... Landon's obviously been a key figure for MLS and the LA Galaxy for a long time, so I'm not surprised he chose not to miss this trip."

Donovan did indeed make the trip, and LA Galaxy Insider's Adam Serrano tweeted a picture of Donovan in the White House:
