Browns sign Jason Campbell

The Cleveland Browns signed veteran quarterback Jason Campbell on Tuesday to backup starter Brandon Weeden, the team announced.

Campbell signed a a two-year deal and financial terms were not disclosed.

Campbell spent the last two seasons with the Oakland Raiders. He also spent a season with the Chicago Bears after playing his first five seasons in the NFL with the Washington Redskins, who drafted him in the first round of the 2005 draft.

From ClevelandBrowns.com:

“Jason is an established leader who has started a number of games in this league and has had success,” said Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski. “He brings us a veteran presence and a good set of physical tools. He played in a similar system when he was in Oakland and that will help in his transition.”
Campbell, 31, has thrown for 14,682 yards and 76 touchdowns and 52 interceptions in 71 career starts over eight seasons.
