Former West Virginia dual-threat quarterback Pat White will reportedly make his return to the NFL by signing with the Redskins, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.

White, who has not played in the NFL since his 2009 rookie season with the Dolphins, was attempting a comeback with an eye on the league's latest read-option offense trend.

After working out for the 49ers last week -- before the team traded for Browns quarterback Colt McCoy -- White reportedly cancelled a visit with the Giants because of the Redskins' increased interest. The Giants were believed to be interested in White helping their defenses prepare for NFC East read-option offenses in Washington and Philadelphia.
