Marian Gaborik traded to Blue Jackets, Rangers get three players in return

The New York Rangers made a deal on Wedneaday afternoon as the clock ticked closer to the league's trade deadline.

The Rangers sent three-time All-Star Marian Gaborik to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for center Derick Brassard, right wing Derek Dorsett and defenseman John Moore, according to tweets from TSN's Darren Dreger. The two team's reportedly agreed upon the deal less than an hour before the league's 3 p.m. EST trade deadline, although it still requires approval from the NHL.

The trade for the right-wing Gaborik comes 24 hours after the Rangers made a trade for forward Ryan Clowe from the San Jose Sharks. In exchange, New York sent three draft picks to the Sharks. Clowe will reportedly suit-up for the Rangers in a game on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, who acquired Jussi Jokinen in a deadline-day trade as well.

Gaborik finished third in the NHL with 41 goals last season. He also led the Rangers with 76 points, good for 15th overall in the league.  In June, he had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder and was out for about six months.
