Report: Doug Collins will not return as 76ers coach next season

Doug Collins has told the Philadelphia 76ers that he will not return as the team's head coach next season, Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday. Wojnarowski's report comes just hours after Collins' agent, John Langel, was noncommittal when asked if Collins would return next season.

The 76ers will finish outside of a playoff spot for the first time in Collins' three seasons as head coach. The team has not made it past the Eastern Conference semifinals, however, in their two playoff appearances under Collins.

Philadelphia came into this season with high expectations after a revamp of the team's roster that included a trade for young center Andrew Bynum. But those hopes quickly turned sour as Bynum missed the entire season with various injuries.
