The NBA canceled Tuesday night's game between the Celtics and Pacers in light of the Boston Marathon tragedy, and the game will not be made up, according to the Boston Globe.

The season finishes on Wednesday, and both teams have other games scheduled, so it will not be made up. For the first time in NBA history, the two teams will finish the season with 81 total games. The game was supposed to be nationally televised on TNT. Both teams had already clinched playoff berths -- the Pacers as the three seed and the Celtics as the seven seed -- so the game's outcome did not have playoff implications.

From the Boston Globe report:

The first two games of the Celtics’ scheduled first-round playoff series with the Knicks are set for Madison Square Garden in New York, so it’s likely the Celtics won’t play at home until next weekend at the earliest.
