Dodgers Hanley Ramirez pushing for return on April 30
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Hanley Ramirez took part in a full workout and hopes to return to the lineup for his bobblehead day on April 30th. Ramirez tore a ligament in his thumb while playing for the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic. He was initially expected to be out until mid-May.
Ramirez took part in batting practice and displayed power during the session at Camden Yards on Friday.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told MLB.com reporter Ken Gurnick he wanted Ramirez to take part in a minor league rehab assignment before he returns to the lineup.
"Stan [Conte, medical director] said we've got to get off the trip first," Mattingly said. "[It is] at least a week before a rehab assignment. You want him to play at least a game or two. He hasn't played a [Major League] game in six months. He needs to get out and prove himself."
