Pacers' Paul George to win Most Improved Player award
The Indiana Pacers have called for a Monday morning news conference in which they are expected to announce that Paul George has won the NBA's Most Improved Player award, according to multiple reports.
The 22-year-old George stepped up to fill the role of the injured Danny Granger, who missed the majority of the season with a lingering knee injury. In his third season out of Fresno State, George averaged 17.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 37.6 minutes per game.
In the Pacers' 107-90 Game 1 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday, George recorded the organization's first triple-double in the postseason since Mark Jackson did so in the 1998 NBA Playoffs.George becomes the third Pacer to win the Most Improved Player award, according to Fox59 in Indianapolis. Jermaine O'Neal won the award in 2002, while Granger won it in 2009.
