Report: Jets to consider drafting Geno Smith in second round

West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith was left waiting in the the NFL Draft green room at the end of Thursday night's first round. Will he go early in the second round? Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News tweeted the Jets will consider selecting Smith with the seventh pick of the second round, No. 39 overall.

Smith told the New York Postthe Jets were among the teams interested in him, after having dinner with the Jets' offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and senior personnel evaluator Terry Bradway the night before his March 14 Pro Day at West Virginia.

The Jaguars, holding the first pick of the second round, Eagles and Cardinals are also considered to be interested in drafting a quarterback in the second round.

Smith originally told ESPN he would not be around to take the stage at Radio City Music Hall on Friday, electing not to attend the second and third rounds. ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Smith changed his mind Friday morning.
