Report: Miami guard Shane Larkin to enter NBA Draft

Miami sophomore guard Shane Larkin will forego his final two seasons of eligibility and enter the NBA Draft, reports ESPN.com.

Larkin's father, Barry, said Friday that his son indicated to him he will announce his intentions to declare. Shane Larkin had scheduled a Sunday 6 p.m. ET news conference.

Sources told Yahoo! Sports that Larkin had scheduled several agent meetings in New York City next week.

Speculation that Larkin will jump to the NBA, rather than play as the Hurricanes' only returning starter, increased with Marcus Smart's decision to remain at Oklahoma State.

Larkin is widely considered to be a late first-round or early second-round pick after he averaged 14.5 points and 4.6 assists while helping Miami to the Sweet 16. He was named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and was one of five finalists for the Cousy Award for the nation’s top point guard.

But Larkin, the son of former Cincinnati Reds shortstop Barry Larkin, went to Twitter Wednesday to quell rumors that he had decided to declare for the draft.

“Don’t listen to whoever put the rumor out there that I declared,” Larkin posted on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon. “It isn’t true. I will make an announcement Sunday at 6 about my future.”
