The Denver Broncos added a pass-rusher on Saturday, signing former Pro Bowl outside linebacker Shaun Phillips, according to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter.

Phillips, who recorded 69.5 sacks in his nine years with the San Diego Chargers, will help fill the void left by the controversial departure of Elvis Dumervil last month, likely starting opposite defense star Von Miller in the team's linebacking core.

Coming off a 9.5-sack season, Phillips represents a major upgrade. The Chargers' fourth-round pick out of Purdue in 2004, the 31-year-old has missed just eight career games and recorded at least seven sacks in seven of his nine seasons.

His best season came in 2010, when he made 11 sacks to earn his first and only Pro Bowl nod.
