Bob Bowman, who has been the longtime swimming coach for Michael Phelps, has signed an agreement to be a consultant for Turkey's swimming program, reports ESPN:

Bowman, who guided Phelps to a record 18 golds and 22 medals overall at the Olympics, will help select swimmers and advise the Turkish Swimming Federation on strategies to develop competitors, Turkey's Youth and Sports Ministry said Tuesday.

Turkcell, a Turkish mobile phone company, agreed to sponsor swimming and athletics, which sparked a more concerted effort to develop athletes in swimming and other Olympic events. Turkey has never won an Olympic medal in swimming. Bowman's first focus will be to help select swimmers with potential leading up to the 2016 Rio Games. He will also help with the swimming program for the 2020 Olympics that Turkey hopes to host in Istanbul.
