Blackhawks to host Penguins at Soldier Field next March

The Chicago Blackhawks will host the Pittsburgh Penguins in an outdoor hockey game at Soldier Field next March 1, the NHL confirmed Wednesday. The game will be part of the league's "Stadium Series" of six outdoor hockey games next season. The news had been previously reported.

The six games, as reported, are to take place starting with the Winter Classic on New Year's Day between the Red Wings and Maple Leafs at Michigan Stadium.

Other games include the Kings and Ducks at Dodger Stadium on Jan. 25; the Rangers and Devils (Jan. 26) and Rangers and Islanders (Jan. 29) at Yankee Stadium; and the Senators and Canucks at BC Place in Vancouver on March 2.

Soldier Field is normally the home of the NFL's Chicago Bears. The Blackhawks previously hosted the 2009 Winter Classic at Wrigley Field.
