Trade talks between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins about the services of Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert are "dead," reports NFL.com.

Both sides have been trying to arrange a trade for weeks but it seems the Dolphins never offered more than a third-round pick for Albert. The team will now focus on trying to sign Albert to a long-term deal.

The Dolphins don't have a legitimate left tackle on the roster since Jake Long signed with the St. Louis Rams last month.

The Chiefs drafted Eric Fisher with the number one pick in last week's draft. Albert signed a one-year, $9.828 million franchise tender in March, which is fully guaranteed, but has been seeking a long-term deal.
