Stan Van Gundy is the top candidate for the Bucks' head coaching position, according Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski:
As the Milwaukee Bucks start the process of hiring a new head coach, Stan Van Gundy has emerged as the franchise's top target, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Bucks general manager John Hammond wants a hands-on coach strong on the defensive end of the floor and a restoration of discipline within the locker room.
Van Gundy coached the Magic for five years (2007-08 to 2011-12) and the Heat for three years before that. He has a 371-208 record overall (.641) between the two teams. He was fired by the Magic last year and says he'll be very selective about his next coaching staff.
Reports from CBS Sports and the Orlando Sentinel have since confirmed that Van Gundy is Milwaukee's number one choice. Rockets assistant coach Kelvin Sampson is also another candidate for the position. The team's interim coach Jim Boylan left last Thursday.
