Receiver Titus Young reportedly arrested Friday for third time this week

Ex-Lions wide receiver Titus Young was arrested Friday night for the third time in less than a week, according to The Detroit News' Josh Katzenstein.

Young allegedly broke into a home in San Clemente, Calif., before police arrived at 11:30 p.m. He then fled from police on foot and, after being pursued, fought with officers.

Young, a Los Angeles native, has been charged with burglary, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest, according to the report. As of 1 p.m. Sunday he was in custody with bail set at $75,000.

He will be arraigned on Monday, according to the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett:

From the Detroit News report, quoting Lt. Joe Balicki of the Orange County Sheriff's Department:

"There was a brief struggle," he said. "He wanted to fight with the deputies. They ended up subduing him."

Neither Young nor the officers were injured in the struggle, Balicki said.

Young also was arrested twice in a span of less than 15 hours last Sunday in Moreno Valley, Calif. After police say he made an illegal left turn into oncoming traffic at 12:01 a.m., he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

At 2:22 p.m. the same day, Young was charged with burglary after he was seen jumping the fence of an impound lot to look for his black Ford Mustang, police said.

The Lions released Young, a second-round pick from Boise State in 2011, in February after numerous behavioral problems. He was claimed off waivers by the Rams and released 10 days later.

In his two NFL seasons, Young has caught 81 passes for 990 yards in 26 games.
