Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino cleared to play after crashing into wall

The Boston Red Sox announced Monday that right fielder Shane Victorino has been cleared to play after running into the right field wall Sunday.

Victorino went back on a home-run ball hit by Toronto Blue Jays infielder Emilio Bonifacio and crashed into the short Fenway fence in right field.

The 32-year-old outfielder stayed in the game for a few innings before being removed.  He was later taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for X-rays on his ribs and back. They came back negative.

Victorino went 1-for-3 on the day before being lifted in favor of a pinch-hitter. He is hitting .308 with two home runs and 10 RBI and three stolen bases. Victorino is 12 of 35 since missing seven games due to a strained back.
