San Diego Chargers defensive end/linebacker Melvin Ingram has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and could be lost for the season, the team announced.

The Chargers say Ingram was injured during organized team activities on Tuesday.

The Chargers selected Ingram with the 18th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft after an All-American senior season at South Carolina in which he had 10 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, two interceptions and also scored three defensive touchdowns.

Ingram played just 475 snaps with one start for the Chargers in his rookie campaign, recording 41 total tackles and one forced fumble.
