The Minnesota Vikings unveiled photos of their new stadium's design on Monday, which the organization said would make it capable of hosting more events than any other stadium in the world.

"Tonight’s unveiling showcases a bold, iconic design delivered by HKS,” Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf said in a statement. "Not only is this facility unique to Minnesota, but the stadium will also provide Vikings fans with the best game-day experience in the NFL, which has always been our goal.”

Some of the stadium's proposed features includes what the organization described as the largest transparent roof, which is possible from the first use of clear ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) in a stadium in the U.S. The team said that the stadium would also have the biggest "glass pivoting doors" of any stadium, which will open to the Minneapolis skyline.

Groundbreaking for the new 65,000-seat stadium will take place in October 2013, and the new stadium is scheduled to open in the 2016 season. The stadium is expected to cost $975 million.
