Minnesota Vikings Vice President Lester Bagley told a local news station that the team's first game in its new stadium in 2016 will likely come against its biggest rival, the Green Bay Packers.

"The way the league is structured, we'll probably — our very first regular-season game will likely be against the Green Bay Packers," Bagley told local NBC affiliate KARE 11. "So it will be good to see Adrian Peterson break loose and score the first touchdown in the new stadium and run over Clay Matthews on his way to the end zone. We'll see. Hopefully we'll have the last word when we get to opening day in 2016."

The Vikings unveiled photos of their new stadium’s design a week ago Monday, which the organization said would make it capable of hosting more events than any other stadium in the world. Groundbreaking for the new 65,000-seat stadium will take place in October 2013, and the new stadium is scheduled to open in the 2016 season. The stadium is expected to cost $975 million.

In 2003, the NFL scheduled the Vikings to be the Packers' first opponent in the remodeled Lambeau Field. The Vikings spoiled the party, beating the Packers 30-25 that day.
