New York Rangers center Brad Richards will not be active in Game 4 against the Boston Bruins, according to multiple reports. Richards said Rangers head coach John Tortorella called him on Thursday morning to let him know that he will not be playing in Game 4. Richards said he is "surprised" and "disappointed" by Tortorella's decision.

After signing a nine-year, $60 million contract with the Rangers in 2011, Richards was benched and demoted to the Rangers' fourth line during the playoffs. If the Rangers decide to use their final amnesty buyout on Richards, they would owe the 33-year-old center $24 million.
