Duke head basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski will return as the head coach of the USA Men's National Basketball team, USA Basketball announced on Thursday. Krzyzewski will return to coach the team through the 2016 Summer Olympics to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Krzyzewski has a 66-1 record as head coach of Team USA and will be at the helm during the 2014 FIBA World Championship in Madrid in addition to the summer games in Rio in 2016.

After leading Team USA to gold medal performances in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012, Krzyzewski maintained that he wasn't going to return to coach the team through the games in Rio. However, he seemed to reverse course in an interview with SI.com, stating there was a chance he could return as coach. USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo remained confident Coach Krzyzewski would remain the head coach and wouldn't offer the position to anyone until Krzyzewski declined.

The first mini-camp in preparation for the Rio Olympics will take place in late July in Las Vegas.
