The Philadelphia Phillies have placed veteran second baseman Chase Utley on the 15-day disabled list with a mild oblique strain, according to multiple reports. Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said the strain may keep Utley out of the lineup for two to four weeks. Backup second baseman Freddy Galvis will replace Utley in the lineup during his stay on the disabled list.

The Phillies are calling the injury a "very mild" grade 1 strain and Amaro expects Utley to be ready to play after his 15 days are over. Utley said he felt a strain in his side during batting practice before Tuesday's game and headed back to Philadelphia to undergo an MRI on Wednesday.

Utley is hitting .272 for the Phillies this season, with seven home runs, 25 RBI and five stolen bases.
