The NFLPA will look in to the extent to which Jay-Z was involved in recruiting Geno Smith to sign Roc Nation's Kim Miale. According to Albert Breer of NFL Network, the NFLPA plans to send a letter to agent Miale, the certified agent who represents Smith.

Under a 2012 NFLPA rule, only NFLPA-certified agents may be involved in the recruitment of clients. If Jay-Z had any role in recruiting Smith, Miale and Roc Nation would be in violation of NFLPA recruiting rules.

photo of Smith and Jay-Z appeared on social media before Smith hired Miale, which would complicate matters for Roc Nation.

Furthermore, Smith's adviser, John Thornton, told CBSSports.com, "It really all came down to who he was most comfortable with. I was in those meetings and Jay-Z connected with him on many levels." Thornton later said via Twitter that he had been misquoted.
