Former Golden State Warriors minority owner Vivek Ranadive, now the presumptive Sacramento Kings primary owner, is turning to his old team in the Kings' search for a new head coach.

Ranadive has added Warriors assistant Mike Malone to Sacramento's list of potential candidates for the job, according to CSNBayArea.com's Ric Bucher.

Keith Smart remains the Kings' head coach -- even representing the team at Tuesday's NBA Draft lottery -- but is expected to be let go along with lead basketball executive Geoff Petrie now that the Maloof family has agreed to sell the team.

Malone, a former Hornets, Cavaliers and Knicks assistant, is considered one of the top candidates ready to make the jump from assistant to head coach.
