New Orleans Saints linebacker Victor Butler tore his ACL during Tuesday's OTA session, reports The Times-Picayune's Larry Holder.
Butler signed with New Orleans this offseason and was to be a key part of the team's retooled defense. Butler went down Tuesday after colliding with running back Mark Ingram during a drill in the non-contact practice. Saints coach Sean Payton said after the session that Butler and Ingram had banged knees and he thought Butler would be fine.
BANKS: Is this the future of the NFL draft? But Butler will likely miss the season. He had spent his first four years with the Cowboys, primarily as a backup. But he was expected to start for the Saints and be one of the main pass rushers. He had three sacks for Dallas last season and knew defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's scheme from their time together with the Cowboys.
