Arizona Diamondbacks right-handed pitcher Ian Kennedy will appeal his 10-game suspension handed down by MLB for his involvement in the Diamondbacks-Los Angeles Dodgers bench-clearing brawl on Tuesday night, according to Fox Sports reporter Jack Magruder. Of the 12 players and coaches that were disciplined by MLB on Friday, Kennedy's suspension received the lengthiest suspension.

Kennedy's appeal, however, will allow him to make his scheduled start against the San Diego Padres on Sunday.

With a 1-2 count to Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, Kennedy hit Puig in the face in the sixth inning. The Dodgers retaliated when Zack Greinke drilled Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero in the back in the top of the 7th inning. When Greinke appeared to bat the next inning, Kennedy hit Greinke with a pitch above his shoulders which set off the bench-clearing brawl.

MLB suspended five players, two managers and fined four others for their participation in the brawl.
