The New York Yankees placed first baseman Mark Teixeira on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 16, with right wrist inflammation, the team announced.

The team recalled right-hander Adam Warren to take Teixeira's roster spot. Teixeira suffered the injury to the tendon sheath in his wrist in March. He played only 15 games before re-injuring the wrist, hitting .151 with three home runs in 51 at-bats.

Teixeira had an MRI over the weekend and it did not reveal any new damage in the wrist, but he was given a cortisone shot.
