Veteran first baseman Carlos Lee announced his retirement from baseball after 14 seasons, reports ESPN Deportes.

Lee played for six teams between 1999 and 2012 and finished with a .285 average, 358 home runs and 1,363 RBIs. In his last season he played for the Toronto Blue Jays, the Houston Astros and Miami Marlins.

"It's something that was already going through my mind," said Lee about retirement on Sports Radio Frequency Panama. He added that he is very happy because "we had a very good season ... we finish our race healthy and without any major injuries. The numbers speak for themselves."
