Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers and general manager Danny Ainge plan to talk over the weekend to resolve Rivers' future with the Boston Celtics, according to Yahoo! reporter Adrian Wojnarowski. Rivers informed the Clippers on Friday that he will no longer be pursuing the open Clippers head coaching position.

After talks between the Celtics and Clippers broke down in a potential deal that would have sent Rivers and Garnett to the Clippers in exchange for DeAndre Jordan and two first-round picks, the Clippers focused solely on acquiring Rivers' services. The Clippers hoped to add Garnett and Paul Pierce at a later time after attempting to deal for Rivers.

NBA Commissioner stated in an interview with ESPN that trades involving coaches contracts is not allowed under the rules of the collective bargaining agreement. Rivers is expected to decide between returning to the Celtics as a head coach or working on TV as an analyst.
