Nebraska freshman defensive end Ernest Suttles has been kicked off the team for allegedly hitting his teammate David Santos in the head with a bottle at a party last week, according to the Associated Press.

According to Lincoln Police Captain Danny Reitan, said a fight broke out at a residence in Omaha last week when Suttles struck Santos in the forehead with a bottle. Suttles was ticketed and charged with misdemeanor assault.

Nebraska head football coach Bo Pelini announced that Suttles and linebacker Thomas Brown were dismissed from the team on Thursday night. Reitan said there was no connection between Brown and the bottle-throwing incident between Suttles and Santos.
