Report: Warriors put David Lee on the trading block
The Golden State Warriors are shopping David Lee around the league, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
Lee, 30, has three years and $44 million remaining on his contract. The Warriors reportedly offered Lee in a package deal to Toronto for Andrea Bargnani, but the Raptors made a deal with the Knicks. Golden State also looked to acquire Lamarcus Aldridge in a trade with the Trail Blazers, according to Yahoo sources.
Lee, 30, is a popular and well-respected player within the Golden State franchise but his contract is considerable, and moving him for a star – or a player on a shorter deal – makes financial sense.
Lee averaged 18.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game last season. He suffered a torn hip flexor in April during the NBA playoffs and underwent surgery in May.MAHONEY: Buyer beware - five risky free agents
