Giants expect to have Victor Cruz signed to long-term deal soon

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz is looking for a long-term deal. The team is confident on delivering and expects to sign him before the team's training camp opens, reports ESPN.com.

Cruz is under contract this year after he signed a one-year, $2.879 million deal last month. The Giants are scheduled to open training camp July 26 at the Timex Performance Center in East Rutherford, N.J.

ESPN.com's Chris Mortensen said last week that he'd be "shocked" if no deal was in place before camp, and that a deal could go down within the "next ten days."

"Everybody I’ve spoken to expects that deal to absolutely get done," Mortensen said on ESPN Monday. "To a 100 percent degree of certainty, that Victor Cruz will have a new contract by the time the Giants open training camp."
