Also in the trade, the Pelicans sent guard Greivis Vasquez to the Kings and Pelicans center Robin Lopez was sent to the Portland Trail Blazers. The Kings will send the Trail Blazers two second-round draft picks and cash.
The trade can't be officially completed until July 10, where Evans is expected to sign a four-year deal worth $44 million to play in New Orleans.
The deal came together when free agent Jose Calderon, who played for the Detroit Pistons last season, passed on a chance to sign with the Kings, clearing the way for Sacramento to complete the three-way deal.
Calderon turned down Kings offer Thursday after deciding against a full-blown rebuilding project that's happening in Sacramento. Evans, 23, who won the 2009-10 Rookie of the Year, averaged 15.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 31 minutes per contest last season but missed 17 games due to various injuries.
