Butler University wasted little time finding a successor to Brad Stevens after he left the university to coach the Boston Celtics.

According to a Butler University press release, Brandon Miller will named as the next head coach of Butler, effective immediately. Miller graduated from Butler in 2003 where he was a point guard for the team before joining the Butler staff as an assistant coach in 2007-2008. The Bulldogs went 30-4 that season and was ranked as high as No. 8 in the country

Miller served as a special assistant to University of Illinois' head coach John Groce last season. Prior to working for the University of Illinois, Miller spent six years on the staff of head coach Thad Matta at Ohio State.

"I am extremely pleased to announce that former Butler University men's basketball player and assistant coach Brandon Miller '03 has been appointed as head coach of the Butler men's basketball team, effective immediately," Butler University Vice President and Director of Athletics Barry Collier said.
