Free-agent J.J. Hickson and the Denver Nuggets have agreed to a three-year, $15 million contract, Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported Sunday evening.

Hickson provides some frontcourt depth for the Nuggets, who have seen major losses this offseason in general manager Masai Ujiri, head coach George Karl, and free-agent guard Andre Iguodala.

Hickson started 80 games with the Portland Trail Blazers last season, averaging a double-double — 12.7 points and 10.4 rebounds — in about 29 minutes per game. He shot 56.2 percent from the field. He looks to provide some key depth in the Nuggets' frontcourt behind both power forward Kenneth Faried and center JaVale McGee.

Hickson became expendable with the Blazers when they acquired center Robin Lopez and forward Thomas Robinson in separate trades.
