Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp is headed back to the disabled list, he said Monday, the latest setback what has already been an injury-plagued season.

According to MLB.com reporter Ken Gurnick, Kemp told reporters Monday that he would head to the 15-day DL with shoulder soreness. For Kemp, the setback comes about two weeks after he was activated from a previous trip to the DL. During that stint, he missed 24 games because of a right hamstring strain.

The Dodgers originally portrayed Kemp's latest shoulder injury as something that was of little concern. Kemp left Friday's game against the San Francisco Giants after feeling pain in his acromioclavicular joint — where the collarbone meets the shoulder — on a swing and miss in the second inning. He received a cortisone shot on Friday night.

Outfield has become a position of strength for the Dodgers with the emergence of rookie Yasiel Puig and the return of Carl Crawford.

Kemp is hitting just .254 with four homers and 24 RBI in 61 games. He has a .666 OPS.
