Andrew Bynum reportedly receives 2-year, $24M offer from Cavaliers

Free agent center Andrew Bynum has reportedly received a two-year, $24 million offer from the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Officials from the Cavaliers are reportedly pushing for Bynum to accept the offer. Wojnarowski said the front office could lose patience fast while waiting for Bynum to decide whether to accept it.
Rescinding the offer wouldn't be anything new for this free agency period; earlier in July, the Sacramento Kings rescinded their four-year, $56 million offer to Andre Iguodala. Perhaps as the Cavs are now with Bynum, the Kings felt that Iguodala was taking too long to accept the offer and could have been using it as leverage for a larger deal elsewhere. Days later, the former Denver Nuggets swingman ended up signing with the Golden State Warriors for four-years, $48 million.

Bynum, who missed all of last season with the Philadelphia 76ers because of knee issues, left Cleveland after his meeting with the team on Monday and traveled to Atlanta to discuss a possible deal with the Hawks, according to Wojnarowski. The Cavs have since reached out to Minnesota Timberwolves unrestricted free agent forward Andrei Kirilenko and Dallas Mavericks unrestricted free agent forward Elton Brand.

The Cavs reportedly want a team-option on the second year of the proposed contract for the 25-year-old Bynum. If he proves this coming season to be back to his 2012 All-Star days when he averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds with the Los Angeles Lakers, the Cavs would want to minimize their risk in possibly losing him to a larger deal in free agency next summer. According to Wojnarowski, Bynum is believed to be seeking "high money" on a one-year deal that would allow him to command an even larger contract next summer. In June 2012, the Lakers exercised their $16.1 million option for Bynum for the 2012-13 season. Two months later, he was sent to Philadelphia as part of a trade that sent Dwight Howard to the Lakers and Iguodala to the Nuggets.
