Dallas Mavericks guard Shane Larkin has broken his ankle during a summer league practice and could miss two to three months, according to Yahoo! reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.

Larkin was selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks and was then traded to the Mavericks on draft night. The 5-foot-11 point guard was recently compared to former Mavericks point guard J.J. Barea by Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle. Carlisle hoped to give Larkin experience within the Mavericks system of offense by using Larkin's speed.

Larkin scored 14.5 points and had 4.6 assists-per-game during his sophomore season at the University of Miami.
