Eagles' Jason Peters awarded nearly $2M in rolling walker lawsuit

Philadelphia Eagles five-time Pro Bowler Jason Peters will be awarded nearly $2 million after winning a lawsuit in which he claims a rolling walker that he used last year to recover from a ruptured Achilles tendon had fallen apart, exacerbating his injury and cost him all of last season.

According to the Associated Press, the six-foot-four, 340 pound left tackle was using the Roll-A-Bout knee walker in March 2012 when it broke below the handlebar. The lawsuit, which was filed in a federal court in Philadelphia, said the incident occurred three weeks after Peters' initial surgery, according to the AP report, and forced him into a second operation that ruled him out for all of last season.

Peter's attorney, Michael Trunk, said the product was sold for patients weighing up to 500 pounds. Elizabeth Underwood, a lawyer who represents the company, declined to comment when the AP tried to reach her on Wednesday.

Peters, who was arrested last month for drag racing and resisting a police officer in Louisiana, said he looks forward to moving past the lawsuit and wants to focus on getting ready for next season.
