Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Eric Wright failed his physical for the San Francisco 49ers, voiding last week's trade, and was immediately released by Tampa Bay, reports NFL.com.

The Bucs traded Wright to the 49ers for a conditional 2014 late-round pick last Friday. Wright was arrested for DUI the previous Friday and his release means he is now an unrestricted free agent.

After signing a five-year, $37.5 million contract in 2012, Wright was arrested for a DUI and was suspended four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy last season. Wright lost $1.7 million in salary during his four-game ban.

Wright, a six-year veteran, signed a reconstructed deal with the Buccaneers in April that saved the Bucs $7.75 million of guaranteed salary to Wright.

Wright started in 10 games for the Buccaneers last season, registering 39 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery.
