New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is "all but assured" of receiving a major suspension from Major League Baseball, according to CBS Sports reporter Jon Heyman.

Rodriguez, who has never been suspended by MLB for using performance-enhancing drugs, is expected to face a suspension lengthier than the 50 games that first-time offenders must serve for violating MLB's substance abuse policy.

According to Heyman's report, Rodriguez declined to answer questions MLB investigators had when they interviewed Rodriguez about his connection to the Biogenesis clinic. If the league can prove Rodriguez was using performance-enhancing drugs before or after their interviews with Rodriguez, he could be facing a 150-game suspension.

Rodriguez is among reportedly 15 players who could be suspended by MLB in the coming weeks for connection with the Biogenesis clinic. Rodriguez was attempting to return to the Yankees this week after hip surgery but a tight quadriceps muscle delayed his season debut. It is unclear when, or if, Rodriguez will re-join the Yankees this season.
