Danny O'Brien, the former Wisconsin and Maryland quarterback, will transfer to a small Division-II school in North Carolina, his high school coach told Fox Sports Wisconsin's Jesse Temple.

O'Brien will attend and play for D-II Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C., said Todd Willert, his high school coach at East Forsyth in North Carolina.

"He just wants to go and have some fun and play some football," Willert told Temple. "I think he's excited to play back in North Carolina so it's not so far away from everything. Family and friends and everybody can go watch him in his last year. I think he's looking forward to that."

O'Brien's once-promising college career has quickly devolved. In early June, he announced his intentions to transfer from Wisconsin — where he had transferred from Maryland one year earlier.
