Cowboys DE Tyrone Crawford tears Achilles, could be out for season

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Tyrone Crawford was carted off the field in the team's first preseason practice of 2013 with what the Cowboys fear is a torn Achilles tendon.

The Star-Telegram's Carlos Mendez reported Sunday that Crawford was participating in drills against tackling dummies when he fell to the ground and immediately called out that he had injured his Achilles tendon.

"Achilles!" he told the trainers while pounding his hand into the ground, according to Mendez. "I can't ... believe this!"

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Crawford was entering his second season out of Boise State, and the Cowboys said he was ready to become one of the team's key reserves on the defensive line rotation. He played in all 16 games last season, finishing with 20 tackles.
