A new regime in Buffalo has made a big-money defensive cut prior to training camp. The Bills announced the release of defensive end Mark Anderson on Tuesday.
Just last offseason Anderson, 30, was signed to a four-year, $27.5 million free agent contract to complement the addition of Mario Williams in the team's pass rush. Anderson, who was coming off a 10-sack season with the Patriots in 2011, was a big disappointment in Buffalo with one sack and 10 tackles in just five game, missing the final 11 games due to a knee injury.
Anderson will keep $7.9 million in guaranteed money while the Bills will incur a cap charge of $4.5 million in prorated signing bonus.
