Mike Williams signs 6-year deal with Buccaneers
Wide receiver Mike Williams and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have agreed to a six-year, $40.25 million deal, the team announced Wednesday morning. The deal extends Williams' current contract five seasons through 2018.
Williams, a fourth-round pick in the 2010 draft, has emerged as one of Tampa Bay's top threats. He had more than 60 receptions in each of his three seasons in the NFL. Last year, while paired with deep threat Vincent Jackson, Williams caught nine touchdowns.
The new contract comes as Tampa Bay reports to training camp. The Bucs finished 7-9 last season, coach Greg Schiano's first with the team. Tampa Bay may struggle to improve on that mark, though, in the tough NFC South.
