One of suspended Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun's biggest supporters was Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Both are 29, born 15 days apart and are high-profile athletes in the state of Wisconsin. Rodgers even let his name be used with the 8-Twelve MVP Bar & Grill in Brookfield, Wis..

Rodgers defended Braun after Braun's positive test for an abnormally elevated testosterone level in 2011. After Braun avoided a 50-game suspension on appeal, he "bet" a Twitter follower his entire 2013 salary that Braun was clean and had never used performance-enhancing drugs.

Braun was suspended without pay for the rest of the season this week by Major League Baseball, and Rodgers had been silent about the situation until now.

When asked how he felt about the entire situation, Rodgers said:

"It doesn't feel good to be lied to. I'm just shocked. Disappointed," Rodgers told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

"He looked me in the eye on multiple occassions and repeatedly denied these allegations and said they were not true."

"I don't regret backing a friend up," Rodgers added. "Obviously, in hindsight a more measured approach would be a better course of action. I definitely believe in forgiveness and moving forward. He has a tough task in front of him moving forward with his career."
